Frequently Ask Question
Frequently Ask Question
1. How do I keep my teeth and gums healthy?
Brushing and flossing, good eating habits and regular Dental check-ups can help prevent most Dental problems. Even if you take excellent care of your teeth and gums at home, Dental check-ups are vital because it is during these appointments that our Dentist can diagnose oral diseases and detect any cavities in your teeth. Problems can then be treated at a manageable stage. Professional Dental Cleaning is recommended every 6 months. Our Dental Hygienist will remove any stains and deposits on your teeth and treat any Gum Disease if apparent.
2. Why is brushing important?
Plaque is a thin, sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on your teeth, which can cause cavities and Gum Disease. Dental plaque needs to be removed on a daily basis by brushing at least twice a day; using a small, soft regular toothbrush or a high quality electric toothbrush. You should floss at least once a day. Good fluoride toothpaste is also recommended. It is important to change your toothbrush every two months or sooner if the filaments become worn.
3. Do I need to extra care of my teeth when I am pregnant?
It is essential for mums-to-be to schedule regular Dental appointments during pregnancy. We suggest an appointment when pregnancy is confirmed and two more during the pregnancy. Pregnancy causes many hormonal changes which increase the risk of mums-to-be developing sensitivities, bleeding gums and Gum Disease.
4. What is Laser Filling?
A Dental filling is required when tooth structure is lost, typically due to decay or external trauma. A filling restores a tooth damaged by decay, back to its normal function and shape. At the DentalSPA, Dr. Amer uses Laser to remove Dental caries (decay) without the high-pitched sound of the drill and very often without the use of local anesthesia. Lasers remove decay with better precision and are capable of killing bacteria in a cavity which potentially leads to improved long term tooth restorations. Compared to traditional method, it reduces the anxiety of our patients who are uncomfortable with the Dental drill and needles. Please call the DentalSPA to book your consultation.
1. What is Non-Permanent Dental Whitening?
At the DentalSPA, our In-Office, SPA White Dental Whitening is carried out using gel and LED Light Technology: a highly focused light spectrum. There are no harmful UV rays or heat development. Covering of the skin is also not necessary. Intensive home Whitening called Opalescence is also available. The treatment includes an Opalescence Gel Kit with 8 syringes of Whitening Gel and custom-made home trays.
2. What kind of results can I expect?
The outcome of Dental Whitening is dependent upon the natural color of your teeth. On average 4-7 shades lighter can be expected.
3. I have crowns and veneers, is Dental Whitening suitable for me?
If you have veneers or crowns, Dental Whitening is not suitable for you and neither would any other whitening treatment be suitable. The reason for this is that you will be unable to change the color of your veneers or crowns.
4. Can I eat and drink immediately following my treatment?
You must avoid ‘staining foods’ for at least 48 hours. This includes tea, coffee and red wine. Our Dental Hygienist will give you comprehensive ‘do and don’t’ guidelines.
5. What is permanent whitening?
Permanent Whitening is when veneers such as Ameneers are used to cover your natural teeth. If your teeth have tetracycline or deep, dark intrinsic stains, if they are slightly misaligned, if there are spaces, or if you feel that your teeth are too small, veneers will permanently whiten as well as restore your smile and give it a more youthful shape.

1. What is the difference between a veneer, crown and a bridge?
Veneers are wafer-thin pieces of porcelain that are applied over the entire front of the tooth. A Dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over an entire tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. A Dental bridge is a structure in which a false tooth and two crowns acts as a replacement for a missing tooth.
2. What are Ameneers?
Veneers are traditionally a layer of porcelain that is attached to the surface of the tooth to correct shape, color, alignment or chips. We at the DentalSPA have developed the latest hi-tech generation of veneers that are non-invasive and require no cutting of viable tooth structure. Our exclusive brand is called Ameneers, and is made of fibre glass, to match the natural radiance of teeth. As thin as contact lenses for the eyes, Ameneers are bonded directly to the tooth surface.
3. What is the best way to straighten crooked teeth?
Old-fashioned, traditional braces are unsightly and often painful to wear and clean. At the DentalSPA our patients use Invisalign: a clear, invisible and easy-to-remove aligner. Invisalign aligners are replaced approximately every two weeks until your treatment is complete and you have achieved the confident smile that you have always wanted.

1. What can a Liquid Facelift do for me?
It can offer you many of the benefits of a traditional facelift without having to endure invasive surgery. It can diminish lines and wrinkles, restore volume, lift sagging brows, and redefine cheekbones and the jaw line. Our anti-aging, expert Dermatologist uses cosmetic dermal fillers for volume and contouring of the face in combination with Botulinum (Botox) to relax certain muscles and reduce wrinkles.
2. What are the benefits of a Laser Facial?
Laser Facials can significantly improve the overall appearance of the skin. It can reduce the appearance of age spots and wrinkles, and improve tone and texture of the skin through collagen stimulation. This simple procedure removes the damaged outer layer of the skin and stimulates collagen production, bringing about smoother, younger and healthier looking skin.
3. Why choose Milk Peel?
Milk Peel is the first facial peel of choice because it is safe and suitable for all skin types. It can restore radiant complexion and even your skin tone with no downtime and harsh side effects. The subtle results of the Milk Peel will make people comment on how radiant you look without them knowing why.
4. Is Microdermabrasion safe and can I go back to work after my treatment?
Microdermabrasion is a safe and common procedure. It is a non-invasive exfoliating treatment that utilizes very fine crystals to improve the skin texture and treat fine lines and wrinkles. Since it is a non-surgical treatment, there is no downtime and you can go back to work and resume your daily routine immediately after treatment. In fact, it is often referred to as the “lunchtime peel” due to its quick recovery time.
5. How can I prevent skin cancer?
Reduce sun exposure and always apply sunscreen (SPF 30+ or higher) before you go out in the sun. Also, wear as much sun-protective clothing as possible. The use of a hat and sunglasses is also recommended. Avoid tanning salons and sun lamps. Examine your moles every month and check for changes. If you notice bleeding, discoloration and change in sizes of your moles seek professional advice.

Laser Hair Removal
1. Is Laser Hair Removal painful and do I have to apply topical anesthetic before my treatment?
Laser Hair Removal is not painful at all. Our Alexandrite Laser is the latest technology of Laser which uses a special cooling system that makes your treatment totally pain-free. In most cases topical anesthetic is not necessary.
2. How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The alexandrite laser emits a beam of light that is absorbed by the target pigment melanin in the active growing hair follicle. This light energy is converted into heat and it weakens and destroys the follicle preventing further growth.
3. How do I prepare for my Laser Hair Removal treatment?
At least a month before treatment, you should only shave and strictly avoid plucking, waxing, or electrolysis. That’s because the laser targets the roots of the hair which are temporarily removed when you go for waxing and plucking.
4. How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions may vary from one person to another depending on the area to be treated and also on your skin type and hair type combination. But in general you will notice visible reduction in 4-6 sessions. Interval is at 4 to 6 weeks between sessions.
5. Is there a recovery time after the treatment?
With our Alexandrite Laser there is no downtime at all and no visible adverse reaction. Most of our clients go back to work immediately after treatment.
6. Is there any precaution I should observe after my Laser Hair Removal session?
Strictly no prolonged sun exposure for 48hrs after the treatment especially for exposed areas like the face, arms and legs. Sunscreen application (at least SPF 30+ and above) is strongly recommended.
7. Is Laser Hair Removal safe and what are the risks involved?
If carried out by a qualified and trained operator there is little to no risk involved. Natural and temporary side effects, which are completely normal and nothing to worry about, may include slight redness and skin sensitivity. This usually goes away on its own after 15-20 minutes after your Laser session.
8. What is the cost of treatment?
The cost depends on your choice of area to be treated.
